Educational Center
The 10,000 square foot proposed raptor center will house
a state-of the-art educational facility for displaying its collection
of eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons in natural habitat settings. A
private wing will provide a medical section for injured birds of prey
requiring treatment, as well as for future research opportunities.
The new complex will allow easy access off interstate 90 for visitors
and tourists alike. It will afford a close-up opportunity to view these
magnificent aerial predators in settings that mimic their natural
habitats. This unforgettable educational experience will be provided in
a beautiful, natural setting overlooking a bay where Bald Eagles and
Ospreys frequently fly and hunt.
The proposed facility will be constructed in two phases, beginning in
2009. The public wing displaying educational birds will be completed
first, followed by construction of the medical wing in 2010. The raptor
center will allow for a 50% increase in educational programming and an
expanded source of revenue. The estimated costs associated with new
construction total $4 million over a five year period. These monies
will be gained through private collateral management, donations,
grants, foundations, memberships, and educational program fees.
